Heated debate erupts in the House of Representatives after lawmakers clash over a proposal asking President Tinubu to explain delays in budget implementation.
The House of Representatives descended into a rowdy session on Wednesday as lawmakers clashed over a motion on poor budget implementation and delays in releasing funds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The motion, sponsored by Abia lawmaker Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh, sought to address concerns over slow budget execution and proposed inviting President Bola Tinubu to brief the House on the issue.

The proposal sparked heated exchanges, with opposing lawmakers repeatedly shouting “sit down” during the debate, disrupting proceedings for about 30 minutes.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas eventually overruled the motion, explaining that the prayers presented on the floor differed from those contained in the version originally submitted by the sponsor, making the motion procedurally defective.
