Assets forfeited to the Federal Government include jewellery worth ₦4.65bn, 11 exotic vehicles, and cash in naira and dollars.

Justice Jude Onwugbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth approximately ₦8.9 billion linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu to the Federal Government.

The forfeited assets comprise jewellery valued at ₦4.65 billion, 11 exotic vehicles worth ₦4.29 billion, $50,000, and ₦30 million in cash.

The order was granted following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which argued that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activities and should be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Delivering judgment, Justice Onwugbuzie upheld the EFCC’s application and directed that all the listed assets be finally forfeited.

The anti-graft agency had maintained that investigations linked the properties to alleged illicit activities and urged the court to grant a final forfeiture order in the interest of justice.

The ruling marks a significant development in the EFCC’s ongoing investigations involving Achimugu.

More details are expected to emerge.
