Latest Recovery Brings Total Refund to $104,950 in Dispute Over 10 Dump Trucks
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over $56,000 recovered in a suspected procurement fraud case to an American-based businesswoman, Mrs Adeshola Oshilaja.
The handover took place at the commission’s Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 in Ikoyi, bringing the total amount recovered for Oshilaja to $104,950.

According to the EFCC, the latest payment represents the outstanding balance after $48,950 had earlier been paid directly to Oshilaja by the defendant, Babatunde Samuel Akinsanmi.
The case followed a petition by Oshilaja, who alleged that Akinsanmi, her business associate and family friend, failed to account for funds provided for the procurement of 10 dump trucks from China.
The commission said its investigation established that Oshilaja transferred $104,950 to two Chinese companies, Jinan Goneng Power Technology Company and China Howo Heavy Truck Industry Limited, on Akinsanmi’s instructions.
A written agreement dated July 25, 2023, showed that Akinsanmi acknowledged receiving the money for the procurement of the trucks and undertook to refund the amount on or before December 31, 2023.
The EFCC said six trucks were subsequently delivered to Akinsanmi in Nigeria. Oshilaja alleged that he retained and used the vehicles for business purposes without remitting the proceeds to her.
The commission said it recovered the full $104,950, with $48,950 paid earlier and the remaining $56,000 handed over to Oshilaja in cash at its Lagos office.
