Former Kaduna Governor Says He Bears No Resentment Over Silence or Distance Amid His Current Circumstances
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has addressed the silence and distance of some former colleagues, friends and family members amid his current circumstances, saying he bears no hatred or resentment towards them.
El-Rufai stated this in a statement titled “My Relationships and the Aftermath,” shared on his X handle on Wednesday.

The former governor said he had supported people and causes over the years because of his Islamic faith, Arewa upbringing, personal values and conscience, rather than for praise, gratitude or reciprocity.
He said those he had supported were free to decide how to respond to his present circumstances, noting that some might speak out, remain silent or distance themselves from previous relationships.
El-Rufai said recent experiences had also prompted him to reflect on some of his relationships, observing that “adversity has a way of illuminating relationships.”
He stressed that such reflection should not be seen as condemnation, but as an opportunity to see people and life more clearly.
The former governor said he had no regrets about standing by people or causes he believed in and would not allow the actions of others to alter the principles that had guided him.
On perceived injustice, ingratitude or injury against him, El-Rufai said he would seek neither revenge nor retribution, leaving ultimate accountability to Almighty Allah.
He concluded that his priority was to remain at peace with his conscience and with Allah, adding that everyone would ultimately live with the choices they make.
