₦1.245 trillion project set to boost trade, security, and economic growth across the Northeast and beyond.
The Federal Government has officially flagged off the construction of the 125-kilometre Gombe–Biu dualisation project, a key component of the ₦1.245 trillion Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri corridor.
Representing President Bola Tinubu at the ceremony, Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya described the project as the fulfillment of a decades-long dream, ending over 60 years of neglect of the strategic route.
The highway, regarded as the administration’s “4th Legacy Superhighway,” is expected to improve transportation, strengthen security, and enhance trade across the Northeast, while connecting businesses to markets within and outside Nigeria.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, described the project as a “Sallah gift” from President Bola Tinubu to the region, praising Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to development.
Construction is expected to commence within 30 days and will be handled by Hi-Tech Construction Company Limited, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the project will unlock new economic opportunities and accelerate growth across the Northeast.
