Interior Minister urges Nigerians to promote compassion, humility, peace and national unity.

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, August 25, 2026, a public holiday to commemorate Eid ul Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The declaration was announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the values of compassion, humility and service, while praying for peace and national unity.

The minister also called on citizens to celebrate responsibly and with mutual respect, assuring that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace across the country.
