First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has commissioned a ₦1 billion Information and Communication Technology Digital Experience Centre at the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Calabar.
The facility, delivered through the Renewed Hope Initiative in partnership with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, provides students with free access to laptops, desktop computers and other digital resources.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony at the university’s main campus over the weekend, Senator Tinubu said the centre would give students uninterrupted opportunities to learn, create and develop digital skills without being limited by the cost of devices or unstable electricity.
She said the initiative was designed particularly to support students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who may be unable to afford personal digital devices.
According to her, the project is part of a nationwide initiative covering tertiary institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with selected institutions benefiting in the pilot phase.
Other beneficiary institutions include Ekiti State University, Federal Polytechnic Oko in Anambra State, Kaduna State University, Kwara State University and Taraba State University.
