President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff says investigations into allegations linked to purported investment council found no evidence against him
The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, says investigations by relevant authorities have cleared him of wrongdoing over allegations linked to the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila spoke on Saturday at the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment programme in Lagos, where he supported residents of Surulere with electric vehicles, minibuses, tricycles, laptops and cash grants for small businesses.
Reflecting on the allegations, Gbajabiamila thanked those who stood by him during the period of scrutiny.
He said the experience had tested him and subjected his integrity to public questioning, but maintained that investigations eventually established that the allegations had no merit.
“At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing, and the investigative reports are in the public domain,” he said.
Gbajabiamila also thanked President Tinubu for allowing the investigations to run their course instead of acting on the allegations before the relevant authorities reached their conclusions.
He said the experience demonstrated some of the challenges that could come with public service, particularly for people aspiring to hold political office.
The Chief of Staff appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in July 2026 over the investigation into the activities of the purported PFIPC.
According to Gbajabiamila, he remained focused on his responsibilities despite what he described as attempts to distract him.
He also warned individuals using his name to defraud members of the public, saying they would eventually face the law.
Speaking on the empowerment programme, Gbajabiamila said about 5,000 residents benefited from the initiative, which involved cash grants, vehicles, equipment and other forms of support.
He said the programme, valued at about ₦1.15 billion, was postponed from June to allow organisers to properly verify beneficiaries submitted by wards, community associations and trade groups.
The beneficiaries included 3,905 people receiving ₦250,000 each and another 348 receiving ₦500,000 each.
The package also included 61 electric vehicles, 50 electric tricycles, 60 minibuses and 100 laptops, alongside four Toyota HiAce buses, two security patrol vehicles, one medical ambulance and two additional vehicles.
Gbajabiamila said the initiative was also aimed at supporting cleaner transportation, announcing plans for electric vehicle charging stations to create additional opportunities for beneficiaries.
He said the Gajarai transportation service also continued to provide free transportation for students and discounted services for elderly residents.
Earlier, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat said the APC remained focused on maintaining contact with citizens and addressing their needs at the grassroots.
Hamzat said political engagement should extend beyond elections, adding that elected representatives had a responsibility to maintain relationships with the communities they serve.
