Scheme says no special redeployment window has been opened and urges corps members to rely on official channels.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed a viral notice claiming that a special redeployment window has been opened for corps members.

The scheme flagged the notice as fake on its verified X handle on Friday, warning corps members, parents and the general public against acting on the fraudulent message.

The fake notice, titled “URGENT NOTICE: NYSC REDEPLOYMENT,” was addressed to parents and guardians and claimed that a special redeployment window was “now open” due to issues relating to national security, health and the state of the nation

It urged corps members with “genuine grounds” to apply promptly to ensure their safety, proper placement and timely completion of their service.

The notice also directed applicants seeking assistance to contact two listed telephone numbers and claimed that valid documents would be required for the applications.

However, the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, through its verified X account, @officialnyscng, labelled the publication “FAKE NEWS” and issued a disclaimer warning the public against the circulating notice.

The scheme did not disclose the identities of those behind the fraudulent notice as of the time of filing this report.

NYSC advised corps members and members of the public to disregard the notice and rely only on official NYSC communication channels for information concerning redeployment and other service-related matters.
