The Oyo State Government has rejected claims that the Federal Government is responsible for the 110km Circular Road project in the state, insisting that the project is being fully financed and executed by the state government.
The government said the project, initiated under Governor Seyi Makinde, should not be described as a Federal Government achievement or a “state-led” project.

It also criticised what it described as repeated attempts by Federal Government officials and their allies to claim credit for projects being executed by the Oyo State Government.

The government cited the Ibadan Airport upgrade as another example, alleging that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, previously claimed that the Federal Government provided N50bn for the project.
It maintained that the airport upgrade was also being executed entirely by the Oyo State Government.
The statement further alleged that federal officials, including House of Representatives member Akin Alabi, had attempted to claim credit for the airport project.
The Oyo State Government called for an end to what it described as the appropriation of state government projects as Federal Government achievements.
