Child Receives Medical and Psychotherapeutic Care as Suspect Faces Further Investigation

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

According to the statement, the child went missing while being picked up from school on September 17, prompting a search that led to her recovery along a roadside in a distressed condition.

The police said preliminary inquiries indicated that the suspect allegedly forcefully took the child into his apartment, where the alleged offence occurred.

Detectives subsequently secured the scene and recovered physical evidence linked to the alleged offence, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

The child was taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving medical treatment and psychotherapeutic care. The police said her identity and privacy are being protected in line with child protection laws and ethical guidelines.

The case has been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.

The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on child abuse and sexual violence, urging residents to promptly report cases involving children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
