The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly travelled from Anambra State to avenge his brother’s death, recovering a pistol and a cartridge from him.
The suspect was arrested by Safer Highway Patrol operatives during a stop-and-search operation along Ife Road while travelling in a commercial bus, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a video shared on TikTok on Friday.

According to Olayinka, the suspect’s responses during questioning suggested that he had travelled to Oyo State to find and kill the person he believed was responsible for his brother’s death.
In the video, the suspect said he was working in Benue State when he learnt that his brother had allegedly been killed at a school in Awka. He added that their mother died a few weeks later.
He said he subsequently received information that the person he suspected was living in Oyo State and decided to track him down.
The suspect also claimed he bought the recovered firearm from a friend for ₦20,000 and admitted belonging to the Vikings confraternity. However, he said he could not confirm whether his late brother was also a member of a cult group.
Olayinka said the suspect remained under investigation as police worked to establish his connections and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
