Suspects allegedly linked to Eiye confraternity nabbed with locally made pistol during planned operation in Soka area.

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers and cultists in a raid on their hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan.

Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, saying the operation followed credible intelligence on the suspects’ activities.

According to him, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit stormed the location around 6 a.m. on June 10, 2026, after receiving information that a notorious criminal syndicate was planning a fresh attack within the area.

He said the suspects were intercepted before they could carry out their planned operation and a locally made pistol was recovered from them.

The suspects were identified as Salawu Sarafa (a.k.a. Folori), Yusuf Tajudeen (a.k.a. Blacky), Farouq Ariyo, and Adebayo Awosemo (a.k.a. Naira).

Ayanlade added that during preliminary interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity and admitted involvement in several violent crimes within Ibadan and its environs.

He further stated that the police had intensified efforts to track down other fleeing members of the gang, noting that investigations were ongoing to uncover the full extent of their operations and possible accomplices.
