The President’s first stop is London, with the Presidency saying he will return to Nigeria after his annual leave to join the 2027 election campaign.
President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja for Europe on a three-week vacation as part of his annual leave.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s first destination is London, United Kingdom.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the vacation and join the campaign ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
The President’s trip comes amid increased political activities ahead of the 2027 polls. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) opened the campaign period on August 19.
President Tinubu, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to face opposition candidates including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The President’s vacation follows Vice President Kashim Shettima’s 12-day leave, which ended on August 18. Shettima has since resumed official duties and travelled to Luanda, Angola, to represent Tinubu at an African Union summit.
