President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Chief Ralph Obioha, a respected statesman, former lawmaker, businessman and prominent figure in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle.

The President extended his condolences to Obioha’s family, community, the people of Imo State, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, members of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), and all Nigerians mourning the deceased.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Obioha as one of the Nigerians who answered the call to duty during some of the most difficult periods in the country’s history.

The President said the contributions of patriots who stood firm during challenging chapters of Nigeria’s history must not be forgotten.

“Chief Ralph Obioha was a courageous Nigerian who made sacrifices for democracy and remained committed to the ideals of a better Nigeria.

“His generation faced extraordinary challenges, and he played his part in defending the principles he believed would strengthen our democracy and our nation.

“His passing is a loss to his family, his community and the nation. We shall remember him for his courage, his convictions, his service and his belief in Nigeria,” the statement quoted President Tinubu as saying.

The President expressed his deepest condolences to Obioha’s family and loved ones, praying that Almighty God would comfort them and grant eternal rest to the deceased.
