President Says Peace and Development Are Returning, Asks Nigerians to Support His Reforms

President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, saying the country is on the path to greatness as it marks its 66th Independence anniversary.

President Tinubu spoke through Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, at the Independence Day Jumat prayer held at the National Mosque, Abuja, on Friday.

The President acknowledged that Nigeria was yet to reach its desired destination but said his administration was working to correct past mistakes and missed opportunities.

“My message to the country on behalf of Mr President is that people should not lose hope. Peace is coming back to this country. Development is coming back to this country. Things will get better as we progress in this democracy,” Abbas quoted President Tinubu as saying.

President Tinubu urged citizens to support the government’s reforms, saying the focus of his administration was to correct the cumulative mistakes and missed opportunities of the past.

“I want to categorically make it clear that Nigeria is on the right path,” he said.

Abbas also appealed to Nigerians to give President Tinubu a second chance to complete what he described as the work his administration had started, saying Nigerians had “finished making sacrifices” for the country to become great again.

The prayer was attended by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, among other dignitaries.
