The Alaga Industry, the apex body for professional Alaga’s, has held the third edition of its induction ceremony, bringing together practitioners from various associations under the umbrella body to promote professionalism, unity, and standardisation within the industry.
The event, which was held at Adeline Hall, Lead City University, Ibadan, featured the induction of new members into the industry and attracted Alagas from different parts of the country.
The Alaga Industry Worldwide comprises several associations, including APWECON, APTWECON, TRAWIN, Skilled Alagas, Shinning Stars, Exceptional Alagas, Alarede, Strictly Weddings, and Orators.
A highlight of the ceremony was a one-minute silence observed in honour of the General Secretary of the Alaga Industry Worldwide, Mrs Bolanle May, who passed away a few weeks before the induction.
Members and guests paid tribute to her contributions to the growth and development of the industry, describing her death as a great loss to the Alaga community.
Speaking with BankyTV during the event, the Public Relations Officer of the Alaga Industry Worldwide, Alhaji Razak Adesola Malik, popularly known as Jalala, described the induction as a compulsory step for every professional Alaga.
He explained that the exercise is aimed at promoting credibility, maintaining professional standards, and ensuring that practitioners are properly recognised within and outside the industry.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of Alaga Industry Worldwide, Olori Christianah Titilayo Adegboye, said the 2026 induction marked the third edition of the programme and was the biggest since its establishment.
She noted that the increasing number of participants showed the growth and acceptance of the industry, while encouraging Alagas who are yet to undergo the induction to do so.
According to her, the certificate issued after the induction serves as a symbol of authenticity, recognition, and professionalism, enabling members to confidently represent the industry anywhere.
“The certificate is what makes an Alaga authentic, eligible, and recognised enough to represent the industry anywhere,” she said.
Among notable personalities who attended the ceremony were Dr. Mrs Ola Oluwakitan Deborah, popularly known as Amoke Alaga, and Heritage Ola, also known as Alaga Toh Bam, alongside other stakeholders and members of the Alaga community.
The ceremony ended with the presentation of certificates to newly inducted members, further reinforcing the commitment of Alaga Industry Worldwide to preserving excellence, professionalism, and integrity in the traditional wedding industry.
