Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has received a Range Rover as a birthday gift from fellow clergyman and friend, Pastor Jerry Eze.
Bassey, who turned 45 on Thursday, August 27, disclosed the surprise in an Instagram post on Friday.
The singer said he usually keeps personal matters private but decided to publicly share the gesture because of the significance of the gift.
According to Bassey, he had expected to spend his birthday quietly, giving thanks to God. However, Eze had secretly coordinated with Bassey’s wife to surprise him.
Bassey said his wife had suggested a vehicle as a possible gift, but Eze insisted on getting him a Range Rover, saying his friend deserved the best.
He wrote: “Normally I keep things like this private, but not this one. I want to share this. Woke up yesterday just desiring a nice, easy day of gratitude to God. Unknown to me, my brother and friend @realjerryeze had this holy coup ongoing with my wife.
“Of truth, the surpriser had been surprised. Still don’t know how to really express this in words. He insisted on going for the very best when my wife suggested one to get. In his words, ‘My brother can’t drive that.’”
The gospel singer described Eze as a generous person, revealing that the pastor was also planning similar gestures for other people.
Bassey said he was left speechless by the surprise and expressed appreciation to Eze, stressing that his love and regard for him would remain unchanged regardless of the gift.
He wrote, “Pastor Jerry, not only has he done this for me. I know of a couple of others like this he is currently planning. The man gives like his life depends on it.
“And I’m here to publicly say THANK YOU, PJ (Pastor Jerry) – You know, even if you never do this, I’d still love you the same. Thank you, Sir. Like I told you, I am speechless.”
Bassey also prayed that the joy Eze had brought to him and his family would return to the pastor and his household in multiple folds.
He urged his followers to join him in appreciating the clergyman.
“So please, help me thank Him on my behalf. Weary him today with gratitude. Tell him his brother is grateful. Thank you,” he concluded.
