The remains of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have arrived in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, for his final burial rites.

A video shared on X by user DammieDammie showed the late actor’s body being received in Ilaro amid an outpouring of grief, as family members, colleagues and residents gathered for the final rites.

Another video posted by Emiralty Africa on Instagram captured Osayemi’s arrival in Ilaro for the burial.

Hassan’s death has thrown the Yoruba film industry into mourning, coming days after his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, made emotional appeals for urgent medical assistance, saying their father was battling an advanced stage of an illness.

The family had sought further medical intervention and specialists to review his case after doctors reportedly said chemotherapy could no longer be administered due to his condition.

Multiple sources, including Best of Nollywood founder Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the veteran actor’s death, while fellow actor Jide Kosoko later announced arrangements for his burial.

According to the arrangements, Hassan’s remains were to be taken to Ilaro, where a laying-in-state ceremony would be held at the Pavilion on Monday before his burial.

The Ogun State Government also mourned the actor, describing him as a shining light whose talent and dedication helped promote Nigerian culture and project the richness of Yoruba heritage beyond the country.

An Ilaro native, Ogogo was one of the most prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, entertaining audiences for decades with memorable roles in films and television.
