The Vice President will join African leaders in Luanda to discuss conflict resolution, peacebuilding and continental security.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Luanda, Angola, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
According to a statement by the Vice President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, the summit will focus on strategies for conflict resolution and promoting lasting peace and stability across Africa.
Shettima is expected to join other African leaders and key stakeholders to discuss regional security challenges and strengthen continental efforts towards conflict prevention and resolution.
Nigeria is expected to contribute to discussions on strengthening mechanisms for preventing conflicts, resolving disputes and sustaining peace across the continent.
The Vice President, accompanied by senior defence and security officials, will deliver President Tinubu’s address at the summit, presenting Nigeria’s position on the issues under consideration.
Shettima is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Angola.
