Electoral commission shifts submission deadline to July 14 after IPAC appeals on behalf of political parties.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to upload the names of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement issued on Sunday, INEC said political parties now have until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to complete the submission process through the Commission’s online portal.

The electoral body explained that the extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), which requested additional time for parties that were unable to meet the initial deadline of Saturday, July 11.
INEC urged all political parties to make use of the extension to complete the upload of their candidates’ details, stressing that no further delay should be expected after the new deadline expires.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
