Nigeria-vs-senegal

Nigeria secure 2-1 victory as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Veteran striker Asisat Oshoala and Toni Payne were on target as the Nigeria Women’s National Football Team defeated the Senegal Women’s National Football Team 2-1 in a friendly match on Friday.

Payne opened the scoring in the 32nd minute at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State, after finishing off a well-worked move involving right-back Shukurat Oladipo.

Nigeria doubled their advantage before halftime when Oshoala converted from the penalty spot, giving the Super Falcons a comfortable lead heading into the break.

The nine-time African champions dominated possession for much of the second half and created several chances to extend their lead. However, Senegal pulled one back in the 87th minute through Sokhna Pene’s long-range strike.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, coach Justin Madugu and his team held firm to secure the victory.

Both sides will meet again on Monday as Nigeria continues preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Falcons will be aiming to add to their record haul of continental titles.
