State government expresses concern over late delivery of examination materials, urges WAEC to protect candidates from unnecessary stress.
The Oyo State Government has expressed dissatisfaction over delays recorded during the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), describing the situation as avoidable and distressing for candidates.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, said several examination centres across the state received Government and Agricultural Science examination materials hours behind schedule, forcing students to write papers late into the evening.

According to the commissioner, some centres in Ogbomoso and Saki were still conducting examinations as late as 8:11 p.m., while similar delays were also recorded during the Mathematics examination due to insufficient question papers.
Olayiwola said the development exposed candidates to unnecessary stress, anxiety, and safety risks, while also causing concern among parents and guardians.
While noting that the state government does not directly oversee WAEC operations, he urged the examination body to improve its logistics and consider rescheduling any paper that cannot be delivered to centres before 4:00 p.m.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and academic success of students and pledged continued engagement with stakeholders to ensure a conducive examination environment.
