Intelligence-led operation leads to safe rescue of victims as security operatives intensify manhunt for fleeing suspects.
The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, on June 3, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the victims were rescued during a coordinated operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6.


Mrs. Adegoke and her children were reportedly kidnapped while she was driving the twins to school at about 7:30 a.m. on the day of the incident, sparking widespread concern among family members, residents and political stakeholders in Oyo State.
The police said the successful rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations that enabled investigators to track the movements of the kidnappers and locate their hideout.
During the operation, security operatives reportedly engaged the suspects in a confrontation, resulting in two suspected kidnappers being fatally wounded. Police also recovered two rifles from the scene.
The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and psychological support.
Commending the operatives involved in the mission, the Inspector-General of Police praised their professionalism, bravery and commitment to duty, noting that their efforts were instrumental in ensuring the safe return of the victims.
The police further disclosed that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.
According to preliminary intelligence, some of the fleeing suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter. Authorities said ongoing operations are focused on tracking down and bringing all those connected to the abduction to justice.
The Nigeria Police Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation, patience and support throughout the rescue effort, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property and combating violent crimes across the country.
