The appointments followed the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections. Both nominees were confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 2026.

Joseph Tegbe, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State, is a fiscal and economic reform expert with more than 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and has previously served as a Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa.
