Institute says situation has been contained as investigations continue into the security incident.
Gunmen attacked the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, in the early hours of Tuesday, breaching the institute’s perimeter fence and exchanging gunfire with security personnel.
The attack reportedly occurred between midnight and 1:00 a.m., with the assailants storming the premises under the cover of darkness before fleeing after a confrontation with security operatives.

Local sources claimed that two soldiers and a police officer were killed during the incident, although security authorities have yet to officially confirm the reported casualties.
In a statement, NIPSS acknowledged that a security incident occurred around its premises but assured the public that the situation was swiftly brought under control through the intervention of security personnel and relevant agencies.
The institute stated that there is no threat to participants, staff, residents, or facilities, adding that normal activities are continuing as scheduled.
NIPSS said investigations are ongoing and pledged to work closely with security agencies to establish the facts surrounding the attack and provide verified updates as they become available.
