Activist joins residents in calling for stronger action against banditry as victims spend 32 days in captivity.
Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, on Tuesday led residents of Oyo State in a peaceful protest demanding urgent action to rescue abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The protest, which held in Ibadan, came 32 days after the victims were kidnapped from Yawota and Esiele communities on May 15, 2026.

VeryDarkMan and other protesters marched through major areas of the city, chanting “Bandits must go” and calling for stronger measures to end insecurity in the state.
Addressing protesters at Iwo Road Roundabout, the activist urged Nigerians to speak up against insecurity, warning that failure to act could expose more communities to similar attacks.
The protesters later moved to the Oyo State Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, where they continued their demands for the safe release of the abducted victims.
The demonstration comes amid growing public concern over the prolonged captivity of the pupils and teachers, with calls increasing for intensified rescue efforts by security agencies.
