NGF backs constitutional framework for state policing, endorses electricity and agricultural development initiatives.
State governors have reaffirmed their commitment to the establishment of state police and ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector following resolutions reached at the second meeting of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF).
In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the governors said consultations with state Attorneys-General on proposed constitutional amendments would help shape a unified position on state policing. They stressed that any state police structure must align with federalism principles and protect citizens’ rights.

The forum also reviewed progress under the National Nutrition 774 Initiative, pledging continued efforts to combat child malnutrition and strengthen nutrition governance through the proposed National Nutrition Bill.
Governors further endorsed collaboration with the World Bank on key programmes, including the Nigeria Sustainable Agricultural Value-Chains for Growth (AGROW) initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, food security, and private sector participation.
On energy, the forum expressed support for the National Solar Super-Grid Initiative, noting its potential to expand electricity access, strengthen state power markets, enhance energy security, and drive economic growth. The governors reiterated their commitment to reforms that will deliver reliable and affordable electricity to Nigerians.
