State appeals to NUT to suspend industrial action, assures residents of intensified efforts to tackle insecurity

The Oyo State Government has appealed to the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) to suspend its ongoing industrial action and allow pupils and students in public schools across the state to return to their classrooms

The call was made by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, following a meeting of the State Executive Council.

Oyelade acknowledged the concerns raised by the teachers but urged the union to consider the impact of the strike on students, parents, and the overall education system in the state.

He stressed the government’s commitment to resolving the issues and maintaining stability in the education sector while ensuring that academic activities resume without further delay.

The commissioner also addressed concerns over security, assuring residents that the government is intensifying efforts to resolve the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area. He expressed confidence that the security challenge would soon be brought under control.

The government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while working towards lasting solutions to issues affecting education and public safety in the state.
