Re-elected governor promises to deepen good governance and accelerate economic growth after historic electoral victory.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Tuesday received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his victory in the June 20 governorship election.
The certificate was presented by the National Commissioner in charge of Oyo, Ekiti and Lagos States, Sam Olumekun, during a ceremony at the INEC State Office in Ado-Ekiti. Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye also received her Certificate of Return.

Oyebanji, who secured 319,224 votes in the election, made history as the first governor in Ekiti State to win two consecutive electoral mandates.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, the governor thanked Ekiti residents for renewing his mandate and described the outcome as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance. He pledged to consolidate ongoing achievements while implementing policies aimed at improving welfare, boosting economic growth and expanding infrastructure across the state.
Oyebanji also commended INEC, security agencies and electoral officials for conducting what he described as a peaceful, free and credible election. He urged opposition candidates and stakeholders to work together in advancing the development of Ekiti State.
INEC officials at the event praised residents for their peaceful conduct during the election and reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to strengthening democracy through credible and transparent electoral processes.
