Police arrest suspect as technician dies after being hacked and shot by attackers in Akure community.

A midnight robbery attack in the Shagari Village area of Akure, Ondo State, has claimed the life of a 47-year-old technician, Idris Clement.

The father of five was reportedly attacked when armed hoodlums stormed the community around 1 a.m. on Sunday, robbing residents of their valuables.

According to his son, AbdulFatai Clement, the assailants attacked his father with axes and cutlasses before one of them shot him. The robbers fled the scene after the shooting, while family members rushed the victim to the hospital, where doctors later confirmed his death after he lost a significant amount of blood.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident, with its spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, revealing that one suspect has been arrested and is being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID).

Jimoh assured the victim’s family and residents that the police would ensure everyone involved in the attack is identified, arrested and prosecuted.
