Council says photograph of Barrister Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole was taken at a wedding ceremony in London three years ago and bears no political significance.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has clarified that a photograph of its President-General, Chief Barrister Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, currently circulating on social media has been misrepresented to create a false political impression.
In a statement, the council explained that the photograph was taken about three years ago at a wedding ceremony in London and was purely social in nature.

CCII stressed that the President-General’s presence at the event should not be interpreted as an endorsement of, identification with, or participation in any political campaign or partisan activity.
The council noted that, by virtue of his office, Barrister Ajewole occupies a position that demands neutrality and service to all Ibadan indigenes irrespective of political affiliation.
“As the President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, Barrister Ajewole occupies a position that requires him to remain above partisan politics and serve the entire Ibadan family without discrimination,” the statement read.
It added that his interactions with Ibadan indigenes and other Nigerians, regardless of their political leanings, should not be deliberately twisted to suggest political allegiance or support for any individual or group.
The council, therefore, urged members of the public, particularly Ibadan indigenes, to disregard the social media post and seek proper context before drawing conclusions from photographs or online publications.
CCII reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the unity, development, culture and collective interests of Ibadanland.
