NLC, TUC and ATSSSAN picket airline, disrupt scheduled departures and strand passengers

Air Peace has announced disruptions to its flight operations following an industrial action by aviation labour unions at airports in Lagos and Abuja.

The airline said members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) picketed its operations, barricading entrances to its departure terminals.

According to a statement by the airline’s management, the affected facilities include Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, comprising the Alpha and Zulu terminals, and Terminal 2 in Lagos, as well as the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Terminal in Abuja.

Air Peace said the blockade restricted access to the terminals and prevented scheduled flights from departing Lagos and Abuja, significantly affecting passengers across its network.

The airline apologised to affected and stranded passengers, describing the disruption as circumstances beyond its control.

“Air Peace sincerely apologises to all affected and stranded passengers for the disruption and inconvenience caused,” the statement said.

It added that passengers scheduled to travel later on Tuesday were being contacted and provided with updates as the situation developed.

Air Peace said it was closely monitoring the situation and would issue further updates as necessary.
