Governor Adeleke urges workers to travel home, vote and defend their ballots in Saturday’s poll.
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, a work-free day for public service workers across the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The declaration was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, and shared by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday.

According to the circular, the decision is to allow workers who need to travel to do so and prepare to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The government said the directive covers all categories of public service workers, except those engaged in emergency and essential duties.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has urged workers, their relatives and friends to turn out massively for the election and defend their votes to ensure continuity in the state.
In a pre-election message, the governor commended organised labour and workers for their support for his administration, describing the relationship between his government and workers as mutually beneficial.
He urged workers to mobilise informal workers, artisans and professional groups to participate in the election and defend their constitutional rights.
Governor Adeleke also appealed to voters to protect what he described as the gains recorded by his administration over the past three and a half years, describing his government as workers-friendly.
He urged the electorate to reject any attempt to return the state to what he called the “dark days” and vote for continuity.
