Victims trapped inside 45,000-litre tanker reportedly died after brake failure caused the crash in Ibadan.

At least two people have been killed in a road accident involving a petroleum tanker in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The accident occurred on Saturday around the Sat Guru Maharaji area of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.

The tanker, with registration number BDJ 27IXG, was reportedly carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) when it swerved off the road and plunged into a nearby ditch.

The two victims, who were trapped inside the tanker, reportedly died in the crash.

Officials of the Oyo State Fire Service recovered their remains and handed them over to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said preliminary findings indicated that brake failure caused the accident.
