Agency incinerates 329,865kg of cocaine, heroin, opioids, cannabis and other narcotics seized across Lagos.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 329,865 kilogrammes of illicit drugs valued at about ₦301 billion in Lagos State.
The court-ordered destruction took place on Monday at Navy Town in the Ojo area of Lagos and involved narcotics recovered from operations conducted across the state between April 2025 and May 2026.

The destroyed drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, ephedrine, khat leaves and opioids such as tramadol and codeine syrup, as well as different strains of cannabis, including Canadian Loud and skunk.
The NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command accounted for 246,864.535 kilogrammes of the drugs, while 83,001.05 kilogrammes were seized by specialised units, including the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Tincan and Apapa Strategic Commands, Marine Command and Special Operations Unit.

Speaking at the exercise, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), said the destruction demonstrated the agency’s determination to disrupt drug trafficking networks and protect Nigerians.
Marwa said intercepting the drugs would also help reduce addiction, protect the workforce and deny criminal and violent groups funds generated through illicit drug trafficking.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the destruction as a reminder of the scale of the threat posed by illicit drugs.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, said the illicit drug trade was closely linked to the activities of bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers, insurgents and terrorists, stressing that disrupting the trade would deny criminal groups a major source of funding.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, represented by the Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Mustapha, also reaffirmed the military’s support for the NDLEA’s anti-drug operations.
