The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented the Certificate of Return to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
Adeleke’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, announced the development in a post on X on Wednesday.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke receives Certificate of Return from @inecnigeria as the winner of August 15th, 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun,” Badmus wrote.
The presentation formally confirms Adeleke’s mandate for a second term as governor of the state.
The governor was declared winner of the election on Sunday after securing victory in 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas.
His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won in the remaining 11 local government areas.
Following his re-election, Adeleke thanked the people of Osun State for their support and assured them that he would not disappoint them.
He pledged to build on the achievements of his first term while addressing areas where his administration had fallen short.
