Governor Makinde urges residents to use the celebration to pray for peace, unity and stability.

The Oyo State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a work-free day to allow residents celebrate this year’s Isese Day.

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the declaration in recognition of the cultural significance of Isese Day and its importance to the people of the state.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, on Wednesday, the government urged residents to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria.

The government also encouraged residents to use the celebration to seek divine intervention for continued peace, unity and stability across the state and the country.
