1,477 Nigerians Enrolled in Four Days as Immigration Service Responds to High Demand
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in London and Manchester to October 3, 2026, following increased demand from Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
The Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, said the exercise is progressing smoothly at both centres despite initial challenges.
He disclosed that 1,477 Nigerians were processed and enrolled within the first four days, with more than half already having their passports produced and dispatched.
The NIS said the extension, approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will run from September 19 to October 3, 2026.
The Service said the extension is intended to accommodate the growing number of applicants seeking passport services.
It also reiterated that passport applications and payments are fully automated and cashless, urging applicants to use only the approved channels for transactions.
