Police intensify efforts to rescue victim and arrest other fleeing suspects

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the abduction of a 38-year-old man, Nathaniel Peter, at Layeri Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, in Oriire Local Government Area.

The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Abubakar and 17-year-old Jayun Danali. The police said they are assisting investigators with information relevant to the case.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident was reported on September 24, 2026, after armed men invaded a family compound in the area at about 4:20am.

Preliminary investigation showed that three armed men forced their way into Peter’s room and abducted him. The assailants reportedly escaped through the National Reserve Forest with his Hajue motorcycle and mobile phone.

The police said the arrests have provided useful leads towards identifying and apprehending other persons connected with the abduction.

Ayanlade said the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, had intensified operations to secure Peter’s safe rescue and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The police urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to resolve the incident and maintain security across the state.
