Suspected gunmen on Tuesday night reportedly attacked the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and made away with firearms belonging to officers on duty.
The incident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. at the immigration facility located along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Motorway near the NNPC filling station. Sources said the attackers stormed the office while business activities were still ongoing at the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market, catching security personnel off guard and overpowering officers stationed at the facility.
During the attack, the assailants allegedly dispossessed officers of their weapons before fleeing the scene under the cover of darkness. The exact number of firearms taken could not be immediately confirmed.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said he had not yet received an official briefing on the incident and promised to provide updates once more information becomes available. As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had yet to release an official statement, while efforts were ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and track down those responsible.
