Nigerian star to perform at Eagles-Jaguars game in London as Afrobeats takes centre stage at the NFL’s international showcase.
Award-winning Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, is set to make history as the first Afrobeats artist to headline an NFL halftime show.
The National Football League announced that the singer will perform on October 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London when the Philadelphia Eagles face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 24-year-old singer described the opportunity as a “dream come true,” saying she was excited to bring her Starrgirl brand to the NFL’s global stage.
NFL Senior Director of Global Game Presentation, Music and Entertainment, Tim Tubito, described Ayra Starr as a “generational talent” with a strong connection to London audiences.
The performance will form part of seven halftime shows presented by American Express during the NFL’s 2026 International Games, spanning seven countries across four continents.
Ayra Starr’s appearance comes shortly after the release of her album, Starrgirl, and adds another major milestone to the growing global profile of Nigerian Afrobeats.
Her NFL performance also follows appearances by other Nigerian stars at major international sporting events, including Burna Boy, Rema, Tems and Davido, further highlighting the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global stage.
