The Borno State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Sainna Buba, has threatened to “flog” residents who refuse to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

Buba made the controversial remark in a video circulating on social media on Monday during a campaign inauguration organised by the Tinubu City Boy Movement, a group supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

The commissioner said political engagement could involve persuasion or force, warning those who oppose the APC to expect consequences.

He also said residents who support the ruling party would benefit from government programmes and campaign materials expected to be distributed across the state.

His comments come amid increasing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Similarly, the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Shekwolo, reportedly warned residents who do not support the APC to leave the council ahead of the elections.

Shekwolo, in a separate video circulating on social media, linked his position to the developmental projects of President Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in Kuje.

He questioned how residents could benefit from government interventions and subsequently vote against the APC in 2027.
