Government Reaffirms Commitment to Quality Education as First Term Begins
Public and private schools in Ekiti State will resume on Monday, September 14, 2026, for the first term of the 2026/2027 academic session.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, said the state government remained committed to improving teaching and learning through the continued implementation of education policies and programmes.

Aderiye said the first term would run for 13 weeks, ending on Friday, December 11, 2026.
She urged school administrators, teachers, parents and guardians to comply with the approved academic calendar and ensure a smooth resumption.
The commissioner said academic activities would commence immediately to safeguard the integrity of the school calendar.
She added that the government would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving students’ performance in local and national examinations.
Aderiye also urged parents and guardians to adequately prepare their children for resumption, while calling on private school proprietors to ensure their institutions were fully ready to receive students.
