… cites alleged manipulation, violence within party

Former Commissioner of Police in Lagos State and former Security Adviser to the Oyo State Government, Fatai Owoseni, has withdrawn from the governorship primary of the Accord Party ahead of the 2027 election in Oyo State.

Owoseni announced his withdrawal in a statement shared on Tuesday, alleging that internal manipulation and rising violence within the party had compromised the process.

According to him, recent developments within the Accord Party made it difficult for his governorship ambition to continue on the platform, as some elements were allegedly determined to frustrate his aspiration and retain control of the party structure.

He also expressed concern over growing tension and violence within the party, particularly at the state level.

Despite stepping down from the race, Owoseni maintained that his commitment to the development of Oyo State remains unchanged. He also sympathised with victims of recent insecurity incidents in Ogbomoso.

Before his withdrawal, the former police commissioner had obtained nomination forms and officially declared interest in contesting the 2027 governorship election under the Accord Party.
