Swift response by firefighters prevents inferno from spreading to nearby fuel storage facilities in Apapa.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the successful containment of a fire outbreak involving a five-million-litre Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel, storage tank at the Bono Energy Terminal within the Ibru Jetty Complex in Olodi Apapa, Lagos.

According to the agency, the fire was reported at 12:04 p.m. on Friday, with firefighters from the Ajegunle, Sari Iganmu, and Isolo Fire Stations arriving at the scene within minutes to battle the blaze.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said the fire was completely extinguished by 1:54 p.m. through a coordinated operation involving emergency teams from neighbouring oil and gas facilities.

The prompt response prevented the inferno from spreading to adjacent storage tanks and critical infrastructure, significantly reducing potential damage.
