Returnees land at MMIA aboard Air Peace flight as government begins emergency repatriation exercise
The first set of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following renewed xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in the country.
The returnees landed at about 11 a.m. on Thursday aboard an Air Peace flight and were received by government officials and other relevant agencies at the airport.

The evacuation forms part of emergency measures by the Federal Government in response to escalating attacks that have affected Nigerians, leading to injuries, displacement, and loss of property.
Authorities are expected to continue processing more evacuees in subsequent batches as arrangements for their safe return to Nigeria progress.
