NAF Air Strikes Kill ‘Scores Of Terrorists’ In Lake Chad Region, Destroy Enclave

Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai hits METELE hideout in Northern Tumbuns after credible intelligence and surveillance missions

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the destruction of a terrorist enclave and the neutralisation of “scores of terrorists” in precision airstrikes carried out in the Lake Chad region.

According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was executed under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai in the early hours of 10 June 2026.

The strikes targeted METELE in the Northern Tumbuns area after intelligence and surveillance missions confirmed the presence of a senior terrorist commander and active insurgent hideouts in the location.

NAF said its aircraft engaged the targets after positive identification, striking concealed structures used by terrorists and observing significant movement in the area before the attack.

Post-strike assessments confirmed the complete destruction of the enclave and the neutralisation of multiple terrorist elements.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the operation and reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to sustain pressure on insurgent groups across the country.

He said the Air Force would continue to deploy air power to locate and eliminate terrorist threats, stressing that no safe haven would be allowed for criminal elements within Nigeria’s territory.
