Veteran chartered accountant to lead Financial Reporting Council as government pushes for stronger corporate governance, transparency, and investor confidence.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of renowned chartered accountant and financial management consultant, Kunle Elebute, as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).

The Presidency said the appointment is aimed at strengthening corporate governance, enhancing investor confidence, and promoting transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s financial reporting system.

Elebute, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), brings over 40 years of experience across Nigeria, West Africa, and global markets. He previously served as Senior Partner and CEO of KPMG Nigeria, Chairman of KPMG West Africa, and Chairman of KPMG Africa.

According to the Presidency, his expertise in audit, risk consulting, corporate governance, and strategic transformation will support the FRCN’s mandate of improving financial reporting standards and market integrity.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Elebute’s leadership would strengthen the council and advance the administration’s goal of building a more transparent, competitive, and investment-friendly economy.
