Osun governor commissions new facilities, pledges sustained investment in education as Victoria Samson succeeds Folorunso Alakija.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday inaugurated several projects at the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and formally installed the Chief Executive Officer of BOVAS Group, Mrs Victoria Samson, as the institution’s third Chancellor.

The commissioned projects include a sports complex, a three-in-one laboratory complex, a 500-capacity lecture theatre and a 750-capacity lecture theatre at the university’s main campus in Osogbo.

Governor Adeleke described Samson as a worthy successor to the immediate past Chancellor, Apostle Folorunso Alakija, whom he praised for her outstanding contributions to the university, including the donation of the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital.

The governor expressed confidence in Samson’s leadership and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening education as a key driver of Osun State’s development.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Clement Adebooye, commended Adeleke for the appointment, describing Samson as an accomplished business leader capable of attracting partnerships and investments that would further advance the institution’s growth. He added that UNIOSUN has expanded from 649 students and 19 academic programmes at inception in 2007 to over 42,000 students offering 108 programmes.
